Welcome to BICAS

Building Intercultural Competencies for Ambulance Services

BICAS transnational project meeting, 27.-28.02.2018 in Rzeszów

The partners of the BICAS consortium met for a two day meeting in Rzeszów, Poland. The objective of the meeting was to finalize the BICAS intellectual outputs IO1 Training course concept and framework, IO2 E-Learning course and IO4 classroom based module and talk about IO3 (App) and IO5 (intercultural training course implementation). On the first meeting day we discussed the final version of the course curriculum and the inclusion of ECVET points. Since intercultural competencies are soft skills, we discussed how they can be assessed in general. We agreed that after each module a test should be taken by the participants in order to evaluate the knowledge gained. A pre-test and a final test taken during the classroom based sessions shall evaluate the change in attitude. The intercultural skills can only be assessed after a period of time since they are being developed on the basis of the gained knowledge and attitudes.

Then we had a look at the e-learning course, which was introduced by Thomas Korcz of Wisamar and discussed the registration process. We agreed that the course should be accessible from the BICAS website and that a full registration is necessary to take part in the course. A beta version of the Quick reference in Action APP (IO3) was introduced by the Polish partners. We discussed with the programmers the content, presentation and usability. It was agreed that Andalucia Acoge provides the content for the prior agreed subcategories.

After lunch partners split up in smaller groups to discuss the training course content of the classroom based module, which was introduced by Nadine Sturm of Johanniter Austria. Jana Goldberg of Johanniter Akademie Germany and Alexandra Storari of EuroProjectLab separately discussed the evaluation of the intercultural training course. After that the groups came back together to inform each other about their agreements and results. In the evening a social dinner was held in a traditional Polish restaurant.

On the second day of the meeting we talked about the implementation phase of the intercultural training course. We agreed on common documents for information, registration, and evaluation. The tasks for the next working period as well as the date for the next meeting were distributed and agreed upon. We thought about methods and ways to intensify our dissemination activities. Andalucia Acoge will provide us with pictures for relevant days to be published on social media platforms.
